To all who care to listen.
Like the peacock on territorial display,
It spreads out its arsenal of attraction,
Ready to pull along its path of destruction,
All those who lack discretion.
For like a spider lurking in the shadows,
Its unsuspecting prey gets entangled in its web.
Never
showing compassion,
On the pitiable state of its captives.
Mercy! a word definitely missing,
In its dictionary of emotions.

I do love retro book covers! The illustrations are just amazing. I have a huge collection of dust jacketed books from the 40's, 50's and 60's that I bought purely for the covers.
